Donald J. Clayton
UNADILLA , NY— Donald J. Clayton, 60, of state Route 7, Unadilla, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 9, 2002, at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

He was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Binghamton, the son of Edith Benedict Clayton and the late Louis E. Clayton.

On June 28, 1969, he married Lucinda Frazier in Sidney.

Don was a member of the Friends Church in Unadilla, the National Association of Accountants and was a past officer for the Binghamton Chapter of the A.A.A. He was a former member and treasurer for the Tri-Town Red Cross.

At the time of his passing, he was treasurer for the Local SSRPO Union of the N.Y.S. United Teacher Association in Sidney and was president of the Sidney Community Band.

His greatest love was for his family and the community that he called home, Sidney.

Mr. Clayton had been an accountant for several non-profit organizations and was involved in accounting for municipalities. For the past 18 years, Don was a driver for the Sidney Central School District.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Clayton of Unadilla; a son, Daniel Clayton of Unadilla; and his mother, Edith Clayton, of East Guilford.

Funeral and committal services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. in Sidney, with the Rev. Robert Conway, pastor of his church, and a personal friend, the Rev. Bruce Glazier of Chenango Bridge, officiating.

Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel with his family in attendance.

Burial will be at a later date in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Sidney Community Band, in care of Sue Stone, P.O. Box 259, Unadilla, NY 13849, the Unadilla Emergency Squad, or the Friends of Bassett, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
