|Verenus Carter Succumbs at 80 In Salt Lake City|
Verenus Carter, 80, Salt Lake City, former Utah County resident, died at his home in Salt Lake Saturday of causes incident to age.
He was born June 27, 1874, in Santaquin, son of William F. and Sally Ann Mechan Carter, and married Dena Christopherson Jan. 22, 1902, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was engaged in farming in Benjamin and Palmyra before moving to Salt Lake City, where he worked for Continental Oil Company. A member of the LDS Church, Mr. Carter was a temple worker, a stake missionary, and a High Priest at the time of his death.
Surviving are his widow; two sons and two daughters, V.J. carter, Draper; Elwood B. Carter, Tabiona; Mrs. Phil V. (thelma) Harry and Mrs. Madge Masters, Salt Lake City; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Matilda Dennison, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday noon in the Salt Lake Fifteenth LDS Ward Chapel, corner of Eighth West and First South. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary Wednesday evening and Thursday prior to services. Burial will be in Spanish Fork Cemetery.
