Edward was the son of Marshall and Flora Lindley Brown. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a lab technician for Cosden refinery in Big Spring, Texas.

At time of death he was survived by a son, Kent Brown, Big Spring, Texas; son, John Ed Brown,Jr.; two brothers, Milton Brown, Graham, Texas; Norman Brown, Moore, Oklahoma; and one sister, Ruth Marie Wren, El Paso, Texas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dalphna Jean Hicks on June 9, 1993 and by his sister, Emma Lee Ward.

Graveside services were held at 3:00 PM Thursday November 28, 2010. Comanche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
