While living in Mobile, AL, she inspected plane engines during WWII. After moving to Glen Cove she worked as a cook at the Community Hospital at Glen Cove (North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove). She later worked at Stango's Restaurant in Glen Cove.
She is survived by her husband Frank her brother McKinley Guffey; her sisters Thelma Johnson and Flossie Payne; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral and interment in Grant.
