Helen D. Shallenberger, 86, of Nebraska City, died Monday, April 23, 2007 in Las Vegas. She was born March 4, 1921 in Avoca to John and Marie (Bucholtz) Sudman. She married Charles Edward Shallenberger Feb. 26, 1941 in Rock Port, Mo.

She worked for Missouri Beef as a meat seasoner and at JC Penney's in Nebraska City for many years. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City. She enjoyed playing bingo, card games, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right and doing embroidery on tea-towels and pillowcases.

She is survived by her children, Dale Shallenberger of Lincoln, Duane Shallenberger of Rock Port, Mo., Denise Parker and husband Cary and Donna Middleton and husband Larry Joe, all of Las Vegas; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Deloris Carr of Lincoln, Norm Berner of Avoca, Wilmer Sudman of Omaha, and LeRoy Sudman of Brock; sister-in-law Louise Sudman of Nebraska City; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on May 27, 1962, and brothers Ralph and George Sudman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City with Pastor Marcia Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery. Visitation with family is 6-7 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the mortuary. Friends can stop in and sign the book after 2 p.m. Sunday. Gude Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
