Eulogy~Written by Randy Myself
I thought Ramona was crazy saying I should write down things about my life basically to write my own Eulogy but the more I thought about it the more it made sense who better to tell you then me. I was born in Marion Ohio on March 1st, 1951 my dad was
Bill and my mom was Norma, they were loving and hard workers that taught me to work hard so I could play harder. I had one sister Connie I enjoyed my childhood in Marion OH it was a small safe little town I was able to go anywhere with my friends as long as I was home when the street lights come on. I cut lawns then in the winter shoveled snow off driveways for a dollar. Spent most my time down at the neighborhood pool. In my senior year my parents decided we were going to move to California what a shock my school through the 12th grade was around 500 kids to a high school of 1200 or more. Being my senior year and not being involved in any school
activities I got a job after school. I worked for a newspaper company The Anaheim Bulletin. I graduated in 1969 from La Quinta I continued working for the Bulletin.
In 1970 I was drafted did my basic training at Ft Ord in Monterey California later transferred to Ft Richardson in Alaska. Figured might as well make the best of it so I learned to Ski and Rock Repelling but becoming an Airborne Paratrooper
Ranger was my proudest accomplishment and being a member of Co O 75th Inf Arctic Rangers there were just under 400 of us during the entire time our company was active
we were a rare unit. In 2010 members of my unit started holding reunions very 2
years, it was nice to reconnect with the guys. After my time in the service I had a couple different jobs until I landed a job with the USPS I was a letter carrier for 28 years I retired in 2006 with my 2 years in the Army it gave me my 30 years. I married in 1976 and divorced in 1999 truth is I should have divorced sooner let's be honest after awhile I was just being used. We had a son Jason and a daughter Shannon they stayed with me after the divorce which made me happy. I played on a couple softball teams won a couple championships I loved sports and wished I played more in school. Had a blackbelt in Taekwondo own serval Classic Cars going to Car Shows was something I really enjoyed. Working in my yard was probably my favorite thing to do. After my divorce I threw myself into my job and working on my house but after awhile I decided I didn't want to be alone the rest my life. I didn't go to bars and had no idea where to
meet someone. A co-worker told me to look at online dating sites. After a couple weeks I was ready to give up again but there was this one woman's bio I was really drawn too I
sent her a email and luckily she wrote back, we continued to write each other for serval weeks I gave her my phone number and we talked on the phone for a couple more
weeks. I could tell she was being very cautious but I knew after our first phone call I had found someone very special. I finally convinced her to go out with me. We had a picnic in Big Bear and by the time we got back it had been a 13 hour date it was perfect I still remember I couldn't sleep that night just thinking about her and what a great day I had. Her name is Ramona and we started seeing each other in 1999 she has three boys Christopher Brian and Robert. I remember being very impressed with her she was running a company and raising 3 boys and everything she said in her bio was true. We married February 2nd 2002 I've never been happier or felt so comfortable with someone she is my soulmate. Ramona and I left California in 2005 living in Georgia before moving to Tennessee were we just loved it. We enjoyed traveling, baseball and football games all types of racing bicycle cars trucks boats horses even lawnmower
racing once, or sitting home all day with or without saying a word or watching TV feeling so close and happy together. She is my partner for life my best friend my rock. I spent serval years dealing with a medical issue where I eventually lost my left leg she never once complained about helping or taking care of me or the house by herself. She became my caregiver shofar basically my life support. I loved my kids and was proud of them even during the hard times and disappointments. As a young man Jason
put me through hell and telling him to move out to experience the real world was so hard but it sure made him grow into a better man. He married Marcella. Not being able to walk Shannon down the aisle when she married Rob broke my heart. They had two girls Alishyona and Allyson I never really got to see them much living so far away. Ramona always tried to include them in things we did even when we did things with her boys they just didn't come around much. That never stopped her from making sure I saw them as often as possible guess things don't work out the way you want them to. I just hope they knew I was always there for them and loved them. I was happy to be part of Ramona's boys life too, Christopher married Shannon they had two girls Sara and Kristina. I always thought of them as my first granddaughters as they were first babies in our family. Brian had a sweet girlfriend Liane, they were our traveling buddies. Robert had a very nice girlfriend Rhonda they adopted three girls Skylar
Mattie and Alx I thought of them as my very special granddaughters. Her boys always made me feel very welcomed and wanted. They spent as much time as they could with
us and were always the first and most willing to help us out anytime we needed it and for that I was very grateful. I loved them all as my own and enjoyed our time together. The older I got the more I started giving up between losing my leg my blood disorder and my balance problem I just didn't want to do anything anymore. I know that wasn't fair to Ramona and honey I'm truly sorry. But she never gave up on me always making sure I got out rather I wanted to or not, making sure I was comfortable having some type of entertainment TV IPad putting all kinds of bird feeders out the window so I could bird watch planting flowers cause she knew I loved them. Fixing me my favorite meal or just let me have PB&J. I could never thank her enough for everything she did for me. Honey I hope you knew how much I loved you and I want you to keep doing all the things we planned we have a big bucket list that you need to finish for us both. And no matter what please don't stop living. That's my life and I wouldn't change anything and Ramona was right I do feel good telling my story. I may not have been the best person in the world but I can honestly say I did the best I could and when I worked I worked hard and when I played I played even harder. Ramona I love you with all my being. I loved all the kids very much and to my granddaughters I thank you for giving
me so many laughs and smiles I loved you girls so much. I leave you this quote from the song Right here Waiting by Richard Marx
Wherever you go Whatever you do I will be right here waiting for you
