CHRIS JENSEN DIES AT HOME
IS FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Chris Jensen was found dead in his bed at his home near the Dana college last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Jensen had been invited to Sunday dinner at the A. Broughton home and when he did not appear for dinner, his body was discovered by Mr. Broughton and Marcus Beck. He had been in good health and was last seen by neighbors at about 8:00 o'clock Saturday evening.
The deceased was born in Vindeby, Denmark, on June 27, 1863, and came to America when he was about nineteen years of age. He worked in Wisconsin for several years as a farm hand and later moved to Chicago where he was married in November, 1892, to Elizabeth Bertelsen. The following year they moved to Blair when Mr. Jensen took a theological course for some time at Dana college but he later took up the painting and decorating trade which he followed up until his death. Mr. Jensen had been a resident of Blair for many years and held a wide acquaintance of friends who thought highly of him.
Surviving him are his bereaved wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Jensen of Lincoln; two sons, Anton H. of Lincoln, who was a member of the Nebraska University faculty for eight years and who has now taken up writing; and Fred W. of the Texas A. and M. school where he is a professor; and a daughter, Mrs. Ethel L. Eckley, of Los Angeles, California. Two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Hansen of Copenhagen, and Mrs. Carrie Olson of Oregon, Wis., and two brothers, Peter Jensen of Wisconsin and Louis Jensen of Denmark also survive.
No definite funeral arrangements have as yet been made. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery.
