"Eliz. A. Gest Dies, Pianist Composer
Miss Elizabeth A. Gest, pianist, composer and teacher, died Saturday in Lankenau Hospital. She was 70 and lived at Alden Park Manor, Germantown. Miss Gest, who had a studio at 1714 Chestnut st., formerly taught at the Settlement Music School here, Ursinus College and the Shipley School, Bryn Mawr. She studied at several music schools, including the Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore. The author of many books and articles, her book "Keyboard Harmony for Juniors," was among her better known works. She was a member of the Art Alliance, the New Century Club, the National Guild of Piano Teachers and many other teacher groups. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Samuel R. T. Very, and two brothers, Alexander P. and John B. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 A. M. tomorrow at St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, 3669 Midvale av. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery."
