Helen was a graduate of San Pedro High School, class of 1937. She was affiliated with Star Fisheries, a company founded by her father Andrew Fistonich in 1921. Raised by a philanthropic family, Helen was always a staunch supporter of many charities and organizations, especially the San Pedro Peninsula Cancer Guild, Little Sisters of the Poor, Assistance League, Mary Star of the Sea Church, Holy Trinity Church, past president of Rotary Ann's and a member of the former Women's Chamber of Commerce.
