Maurine Vance Brady was born August 23, 1924 to Glen Elroy and Majorie Fowles Vance in Fairview, UT. She was the oldest of seven children. She passed away at home on April 22, next to her Eternal companion of 69 years, Elroy William Brady.
Maurine graduated from North Sanpete High School, and has always considered Fairview home. She grew up during the Great Depression and learned how to have a great time on a shoestring budget.
Maurine and Elroy were married on October 5, 1943, in Salt Lake City. Three days after being married, Elroy left to serve in the U.S. Navy, in WWII. During those years, Maurine worked as a telephone operator at Mountain Bell. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
They made their home in Kaysville in1954, where they raised their family of three children and have resided ever since. Maurine was an avid reader, and served as the Kaysville City Librarian for over 20 years. She has entertained countless groups with her amazing book reviews, and loved to socialize with all she came in contact with – whether she knew them or not. She was also a member of the Kaysville Literary Club, and the Daughter's of the Utah Pioneers.
Maurine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in various callings, such as Relief Society Teacher, Young Women and Relief Society President. She loved all people, and was a great example of service.
Maurine had a quit wit, and could always be counted on to tell it like it was. Even with her many health issues, she continued to entertain up until her passing.
Maurine loved her family. Nothing was better than a party, and there didn't need to be a reason. She was always looking ahead for the next holiday; planning the 4th of July celebration before the Christmas tree was even down!
Maurine is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Elroy, who provided many years of care and comfort on her behalf; son Larry (Marie) of Hazelton, PA; daughter Robyn (Kevin) Barkdull of Centerville. Six grandchildren & ten great-grandchildren. Siblings: Allen (Norma)Vance, Winnie (Art)Neilson, Jerry Vance, and sister-in-law, Cherie Vance. Preceded in death by a son, Michael Vance Brady; parents; siblings: Ken Vance, Lorraine Miner, and Bert Vance.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 W. Center St., Kaysville, UT. Friends and family may visit on Friday, April 26, from 6-8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington, UT, and Saturday 9:30-10:30 at the Tabernacle. Interment at the Fairview City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers throughout the years who have provided compassionate service.
