Found in The State 16 July 1971: Mrs. Annie B. Artemus, widow of J. C. Artemus Sr., of Columbia died Thursday in a local nursing home. Mrs. Artemus was born in Williston, a daughter of the late William and Nancy Johnson Watson. She was a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church, the Women's Auxillary of Carpenters and Joiners of America, the War Mothers Auxilary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Household of Ruth. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. C. H. (Louise) Ford and Mrs. W. F. (Nancy) Gough of Columbia, Mrs. C. A. (Mary) Kennedy and Mrs. LeRoy (Julie) Taylor of Binghamton, N. Y., and Mrs. Oscar (Vivian) Donaldson of Detroit; and two sons, J. C. and James W. Artemus of Columbia.

Found in The State 17 July 1971: Funeral services for Mrs. Annie B. Artemus will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Second Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Roland Haynes. Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery. Mrs. Artemus died Thursday.

Note: William Watson was her step father. Her maiden name was Johnston per the 1900 US Census for Williston, Barnwell, SC.
