Robert William Bowman, 70, of Northwind Road, Bridgeport, Boothsville Community, went home to our Lord Friday evening (April 19, 2013) in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.

He was born June 20, 1942, in Mannington, a son of the late Robert W. and Eva J. McCann Bowman.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Moore Bowman, whom he married Aug. 19, 1975.

Also surviving are four daugh­ters, Jamie Lynn Bowman List and her husband Kenneth of Rt. 3, Bridgeport, Mary Kay Bowman Walker and her husband Mike of Tennessee, Shawna Bowman Pool and her husband Robert of Fairmont, and Melanie Bowman of Virginia; and seven grandchildren. Three brothers, Gary Bowman and his wife Greta of Dennison, Ohio, Allen Bowman and his wife Linda of Jackson, Ohio, and Tom Bowman and his wife Pam of Mannington; a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Bowman of Moundsville; and several nieces and nephews com­plete his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Stout and Nancy Jane Bowman, who died in infancy.

Bob was a graduate of Farmington High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a jet engine mechanic. He was also involved with the planes that searched for submarines dur­ing the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from Westinghouse-Philips Lighting in Fairmont after 31 years of service.

He was a member of Boothsville Baptist Church, and loved farming, fishing and hunt­ing.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday with Pastor Orville Wright presiding. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded.
