Bob was the son of Dewey and Bessie L. Clontz Centers and had lived most of his life in Cambridge City, Indiana.

He was retired from Bertsch & Co., was a 1939 graduate of Lincoln High School in Cambridge City where he was active in sports. He was a member of the Connersville Church of God.


Bob served during WW II, T Sgt. U. S. Army where he earned the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, the EAME Theater Ribbon, an Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters and Distinguished Unit Citation and was a POW. He had flown 50 missions.

He was also in the Golden Glove Boxing in the service and was a member of the Leroy Tout American Legion Post in Dublin, Indiana.

Bob has three daughters Gladys Ruth Carr Kibbey of Dublin, Velvet Carr Moffitt of Milton, Paula J. Rihm of Cambridge City. Sons David Centers of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Centers of Anderson, Ed Carr of Connersville, Bobby Centers of Anderson, Charles D. Centers of Connersville, Paul Centers of Brownsville, stepdaughter Paula Pollard of Connersville and a step son Mark Boyer of 29 Palms. CA. Sister Donna Jean Riden of Richmond. He is survived by his wife Eileen Boyer Centers.

Bob was proceeded in death by his first wife, Flora Mae Centers in 1988 and a brother Charles Centers.
