ALENE FOWLER
"Alene M. Fowler, 80, died at Lubbock Methodist Hospital Monday afternoon following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 19, 1901 at Arcadia, Neb. The family moved to Crosbyton, Texas, when she was 15. In Crosbyton on August 11, 1920, she was married to Elgin E. Fowler. They lived in Crosbyton for several years, moved to Muleshoe and then House [New Mexico.] For a time they lived at Dunlap, N.M. and in 1936 they moved to a farm in Floyd. They lived there until 1977 when they moved to Portales. She is a member of the Floyd Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Elgin, two sons, Marvin, Portales, and Clayton, of the home; two daughters, Bertha Gregory, Floyd; and Fayrene Peipelman, Houston; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Parker, Alice, Texas, and Stanley Parker, Redding, Calif.; three sisters, Dora Fowler, Fallon, Nev., Ada Vaughn, Abilene, Texas and Florence Elliott, Aztec, N.M.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Wheeler's Starlight Chapel with the Rev. Neal Foster officiating and the Rev. Jeff Lancaster assisting. Burial will be in the Floyd Cemetery at the side of her daughter Goldie Carlisle who died in 1945. Pallbearers will be Pid Luce, Johnny Smith, Travis Russell, Onzle Lee, Wylie Andrews and Wayne Hahn. All friends will be honorary."
