Mrs. Bertha Phillips Arnold, formerly of Scottville, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Our Saviour's hospital, Jacksonville, where she had been a patient for a week. She was 77 years of age, and had been a resident of Hixon Rest home in Waverly.
Deceased was born December 8, 1879, in Greene County, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Garner Phillips.
She was married to George Arnold, who survives her, and is a resident at the Hixon Rest home.
Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Minnie Raffety, of East St. Louis; two half sisters, Mrs. Ida Taylor of Oklahoma and Mrs. Ellis Nash of White Hall, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Robert L. Foster, of St. Louis.
Burial was in East cemetery, Waverly.
