Beeman was the son of Washington Andrew Barrett and Lillie Jean Pierce, the husband of Melinda Agnes Rose and the father of Viola, Letha Mae and Adelbert Barrett. He died at the age of 42 after a ladder slipped and he was impaled on a fence. They operated on him in his home on the dining room table and left a sponge inside. After several years of pain and fatigue it was discovered the sponge had caused him to get peritonitis, shortly thereafter, he passed away.
