Georgetta Galbreath, donned her heavenly robe at 2:02 p.m. March 17, 2013. She was born May 9, 1931 to Thomas Sr. and Victoria Gant.

Growing up in Evansville, she attended Lincoln School K-12 where she became a track star and received a scholarship from Tuskegee Institute.

She was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church for 50+ years where she served as President of the Missionary Department, Director of Vacation Bible School, Superintendent of Children's Church, Director of Evangelistic Ministry, and Sunday School teacher.

In addition to her parents, Georgetta was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Galbreath; siblings, Marguerite Higgins, Joe Garth, Pearline Rudolph, Thomas Gant Jr. and niece, Zreeta Hardin.

Left to mourn but greatly cherish her precious memories are her children, LaTosha A. Pitt, Bruce C. Willingham (Janice), TaJon A. Willingham (Gwen), Jawanna J. Lawrence (Aaron), Kristina M. Dixon, Larrie Jo Hatcher (Matthew), Shelika D. Higgins, Deborah Hasal, Michael Higgins, Marvetta McGuire (Roland), and special son, Bryant Lewis. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; 4 grand angels, several nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, many loving friends, and special friend, LaVerne Hinton.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Her final church service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Rabon L. Turner officiating.

Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, Ky. are in charge of arrangements.
