Ann married William Silas Collie(I) in South Carolina as the storm clouds of the Revolutionary War were gathering. They had two sons before William Silas left to join the Patroits in the struggle for freedom. Their next child, a daughter, was born soon after the British surrendered at Yorktown. Ann and William Silas joined the westward movement of pioneers to settle virgin land. They led their extended family through Alabama and over the northern border into the Cold Creek area of Lincoln County, Tennessee. Their household and those of married sons and a son-in-law were enumerated there in the 1820 census.
