Reita Joy Alexander, daughter of Lester E. and Helen Baller, was born
July 22, 1948 at Broken Bow and passed away July 13 at North Platte at
the age of 37 years, 11 months and 22 days.
She was married to Elmer Dale Alexander June 1, 1972. To this union two
daughters were born: Lisa Dawn in 1976 and Tina Marie in 1978.
Mrs Alexander attended grade and high school in Broken Bow, graduating
in 1966.
She was baptized in the Christian Church as a youth, was a member of the
Youth Group and enjoyed music and girls softball as hobbies.
In 1970 she received a bachelor's degree from Kearney State College to
teach English and Spanish, after which she taught school at North Bend and
Hershey. Recently she had been employed at the Pathology Serviced in North
Platte.
She was girls' softball coach and coached the McKinley school softball team
She also was involved with the Step on Drug Abuse program in North Platte
public schools.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer of North Platte; two daughters, Lisa
and Tina, both at home; one stepson, Tim Alexander; her parents, Lester and
Helen Baller of Broken Bow; one brother, Leslie Baller of Omaha; one sister,
Kay Schweitzer of Scribner; and three grandchildren.
She leaves to mourn her passing many other relatives and friends.
Services were at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev.
James E. Clarke officiating. Music was by Mrs. Paul Christenson and Mrs.
Jack Frieburg.
Pallbearers were Clayton Cooper, Blaker Frazier, Clayton Glendy, Francis
"Corky" Kemp, Gordon Lindvall, and Bob Yantzie. Burial was in Floral Lawn
Memorial Gardens in North Platte.
A memorial had been established to the Diabetes Foundation or the Platte
Valley Girls Softball Association.
Tabler Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
