"Homer B. Anders, 97, of 12925 Little Hayden Circle, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at Washington County Hospital. Born October 10, 1906, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William and Rosa Mary Young Anders. His wife of 65 years, Blanche Dean Gerhart Anders, died April 16, 1993. He retired in 1970 from Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, with 26 years of service. He was the first court commissioner in Hagerstown, where he served from 1971 to 1981. He later served as bailiff for the grand jury. He had been a member the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Williamsport. He had been a member of the Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84, Williamsport. He is survived by three daughters, Doris L. Miller and Margaret L. Anders, both of Hagerstown, and Lois E. Brown of Boonsboro; two sons, Edward L. Anders of Port Charlotte, Florida., and Carl H. Anders of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John W. Anders; a sister, Violet Gordon; and a brother, Richard Anders. Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Pastor Franke J. Zollman will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice."
