Son of William Butler and Mary Agnes Stith. Mr Charles "Clayborne" Butler was a merchant of dry goods and groceries. In addition, he became Stationmaster of the Oil City railroad depot in 1911. That same year, 1911, he married Rebecca Louise "Lulie", "Sook" Cox [m.15 Oct]. To this union were born four daughters. Mr Butler was treated for polio beginning 1920 and fully recovered. Although one of his legs remained weak and withered, he continued to work until 1941, during which time the depot was destroyed by fire in 1926, and rebuilt in 1927.
