Candler-Service for Ethel Whitesides Parris Brown, 77, of Route 5, Milk Sick Cove Road, who died Friday at her home will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home.

The Rev. Hubert Wilson will officiate with burial in the Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Swain County and a resident of Buncombe County most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Hosea and Sarah Wiggins Whiteside. She retired from Macke Vending Co.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Pittman of Candler and Dorothy Rice of Marshal, two sons, J.C. Parris and Earl Parris of Asheville; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
