BURLINGTON FLATS — Ward Vaughn Baulch, 87, of Burlington Flats, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Fox Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born in the town of Exeter, the son of Edgar and Doris (Joslyn) Baulch.

His mother died when Ward was 1 year old, and he was raised by his grandparents, Jay and Viola Joslyn.

He married Wilma Cole in Burlington Flats on Dec. 12, 1934; they had been married 66 years.

He had operated his own trucking business for many years and had also been employed by Earl Chase & Sons as a mechanic and driver. He had most recently been employed by the Otsego County Highway Department, retiring after more than 15 years of service.

Ward was of the Methodist faith and is survived by his wife, Wilma, of Burlington Flats; a daughter, Janet Fikes, and her husband, Arleigh, of Burlington Fiats; his grandchildren, Cindi Sue Patafle of Clinton and Terry Fikes and his wife, Nanette, of Burlington Flats; and his great-grandchildren, who include Steve and Kevin Patafie and Cassandra and Matthew Fikes. He is also survived by a sister, Elouise Leaman of Orange City, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Sarah Baulch of Burlington Flats; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Lysle Baulch, who died in 1992.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Baulch residence, at 150 Arnold Road, Burlington Flats, with the Rev. William Highfield officiating.

Calling hours will be on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Baulch residence.

Friends are asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the American Legion Post of Edmeston or the Edmeston Emergency Squad.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
