Daniel Baker was born to the parents of William jr and Sarah Rouels Baker on April 4th 1804 in Coopertstown, Otsego, New York.

He was married twice. He married Amanda Strong on November 22 1830 at the age of 26, they had one child together Amandon Baker born 1832 and passed 1872. Amanda passed in childbirth.

Daniel next married her sister Abigail Strong on April 29th 1832 at the age of 28. Just 3 months after Amanda passed. Together they had 17 children. Hiram C, Samatha, Hannah J, Polly A, Luther Strong, David B (killed at Cedar Mountain Va in the Civil War 1862, Stephen B, Alanson Lon, Caroline Rhonda, Lois A, Julia A who passed when born (1847), Fanny J, Julia Ann (probably in honor of her sister who passed when born?), Moses Edward, John J (passed at birth) who is a twin to Mortimer Edward, and Daniel Carpender.

In total Daniel C Baker had 18 children counting the one with his first wife Amanda.
