Levi H Bankston was born in Washington Parish Louisana son of Leslie and Elizabeth Brewer Bankston. The husband of Sarah Jane McGee / Magee.
L H Bankston was survived by 10 children 68 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildten.

Bankston became Sheriff, the same year he married Jane Magee in 1839.
Sheriff Bankston’s father Leslie was security for him on his bond for office. This documented on page 17 of The Act of Louisiana, January 1848 when Leslie was released from the bond approved March 16 1848.

Special to the Times-Democrat. Franklin[ton], La., March 13---
Levi H. Bankston, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Washington parish, died yesterday at his home near Mt. Point [Mt. Hermon]. Mr. Bankston was eighty-three years of age. His immediate family is very large. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren number 175 persons. At the age of twenty-one he was elected and served as sheriff of this parish and afterward filled many positions of honor and trust as a public official.

L. H Bankston was born December 16, 1816. During the latter part of 1839 he was married to Miss Jane Magee. He lost her by death on August 3, 1871. the result of this marriage was ten children. He remained a widower for several years, when he married a Widow Purvis. the result of this marriage was one daughter. He united with Mt. Pisgah church in July 1867, and remained a faithful member until death, March 12, 1900, aged 83 years. He was also a member of the Masonic order. He left ten children and sixty-eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and scores of friends and relatives to mourn their loss. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. H. Schilling at the family cemetery
