Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road in Bonita, for Dorothy Elizabeth McClintock Shank, 82, of San Diego, a former Brawley resident who died Saturday in San Diego. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Revival Tabernacle, 1765 Pentecostal Way in San Diego. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita.

Mrs. Shank was born Dec. 22, 1919, in San Diego. She was baptized in 1938. She married Roy Clayton Shank in Brawley on Dec. 21, 1941. The Shanks served as pastors of the United Pentecostal Church of Brawley for more than 35 years.

Mrs. Shank worked as a nurse at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley and was also employed by the Imperial County Health Department. According to family, she was a talented artist who worked with oils, ceramics, weaving looms, made quilts, sewed, made porcelain dolls and created things in virtually every craft. She was a multi-talented lady and her love of God, people and nature is reflected in her works.

Mrs. Shank was always there to help her church and community, according to family. She helped at church, school, 4-H clubs and many areas of the community.

She was a highly regarded Bible teacher and held ministerial credentials with the United Pentecostal Church International. She also was a beautiful singer who sang songs to worship and glorify Jesus, according to family. Mrs. Shank loved God with all her heart and stood for the truth in the midst of adversity, according to family. She was preceded in death by her brother Eugene, her sister Jane and several grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Clayton Shank of San Diego; children, Dorothy Lorraine Shank, Faith Suzanne Shank Freeman, Hope Jeanette Shank Hickey, Roy Daniel Shank, Esther Elizabeth Shank Walden and Kathleen Marie Shank Vandevender; stepdaughter, Elayne Louise Shank Sthiles; brothers, George Ray McClintock and Harold Edgar McClintock; sister, Hazel Alberta McClintock Garrett; 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 29 nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives.
