Married Anna May Evans Jan 11, 1891 in Spirit Lake, Dickinson County, Iowa. To them nine children were born: Lerona Mellissa, William James, Leo Ralph, Eunice Lillian, Edward K., Jeanette May, Alice Alzina, Isabel Rose and Ethel Elnora.

Came west to Oregon around 1900 along with his parents, siblings and their families. Lived and farmed in the Josephine, Douglas and Coos county areas until his passing, at age 73 in North Bend.

Preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lerona and his son, William.
