"Dub" was born on January 28, 1922 in Olney, Texas to Author and Clara Mae (Smith) Abbott. He and Mary Elizabeth Owens were married on March 1, 1947 in Olney, Texas. He had been a farm equipment mechanic. "Dub" served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Elizabeth Abbott of Olney, Texas; two daughters:Janice "Annelia" Ridenour and husband Rex of Archer City, Texas, Teresa Diana Middaugh and husband W. D. of Olney, Texas; his sister, Charlene Orem of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his brother, Don Abbott and wife Virginia of Longview, Texas; four grandsons: Brent Middaugh of Olney, Texas, Eric Middaugh also of Olney, Kevin Ridenour and wife Ashley of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Matt Ridenour of Archer City, Texas; also his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
