Barbara O. Bankert, 74, of McSherrystown, died Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford.
Born March 25, 1929 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Arlene (Brady) Orndorff. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Bankert, who died November 22, 1991.
Mrs. Bankert was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School. She retired from the Victory Restaurant in Hanover. Mrs. Bankert was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown; the Hanover Home Association; the McSherrytown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; and Midway Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by four sons, Robert A. Bankert, Randy L. Bankert, Norman B. Bankert and John E. Bankert, all of Hanover; four daughters, Vickilynn Mahayni of Richmond, Va., Brenda M. Bankert of New Oxford, Andrea A. Hake of York, and Sheila M. Brewer of Hanover; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Gary A. Orndorff and one sister, Anita Orndorff Grogg.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Hicks Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Interment will be in the Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday evening.
Serving as pall bearers will be Robert Bankert, Randy Bankert, Norman Bankert, John Bankert, Jeremy Bankert, Jon Bankert, Christopher Hake, Kim Bankert and Rebecca Giglio.
