Virginia Mourine Womack Abbott, 96, of Auburn, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Auburn Healthcare Center.

She was born Oct. 3, 1916, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Joseph and Sarah "Sally" Turner Womack. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents, Abbott is preceded in death by her husband, Buna Abbott, sons, Randall Abbott and Larry Abbott, grandson, Jeff Abbott, brothers, Claude Womack and Arthur Porter Womack, and her sister, Joe Nell Cook.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the McKenna Smith Fund which may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 2, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Tom Lawhon officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown, Ky. with Doug Abbott, Mark Abbott, David Abbott, Garrett Abbott, Maclain Dunlap, and Tony Jones serving as pallbearers.

Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of these arrangements.
