Opal McGirr, 86, of 11591 Taylor Road N.E., was pronounced dead on arrival at Alliance Community Hospital at 7:14 a.m. this morning following an extended illness.

Mrs. McGirr was born in Alliance April 15, 1902, to William H. and Alice J. (Caves) Battershell. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert T. of Hartville; a sister, Nellie Emery of Alliance; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L., who died in October of 1987, six brothers and three sisters.
