Duane (D.K.) Adams, 85, well known Guymon businessman died Friday afternoon at the Four Seasons Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Adams was the son of Travis and Katheryn Adams. He was born Feb 5, 1905 at Hutchinson, Kansas.
He graduated from Northwestern State in Alva, Okla. and received his masters degree from Oklahma A & M in Stillwater, Okla.
D.K. and Bessie Burton were married on July 25, 1930 at Texhoma, Okla.
He moved to Guymon in 1930 from Beaver County where he taught at the Blue Mound Country School. He taught and served as principal in the the Guymon School system for several years.
He established the Adams Real Estate and Insurance business in Guymon in 1946 and was active until has retirement in 1970.
He was a member of the Guymon Masonic Lodge No 335, A.F.& A.M. and the Scottish Rite Consistory at Guthrie. Mr. Adams was an active member and deacon of the Guymon First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, James Duane Adams and a sister, Muriel Adams.
Besides his wife, Bessie of the home; he is survived by one son, Laddie and his wife, Nita Adams of Bethany, Okla.; two grandsons, Gerald and his wife, Leesa Adams of Shawnee, Okla. and Mrs. Patrick (Jana) Countryman of Bethany and one great-grandson Zachary Adams of Shawnee.
