Dodgeville- Gyrlie Alexander, age 78, of Dodgeville, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 1991, after a valiant fight with cancer at the Medical Care Facility in Dodgeville. She was born April 20, 1912, in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edward Paquette and Rena Burns. She was raised and educated in Scales Mound, Illinois. She was a gradaute of Scales Mound High School, and later Platteville-Normal receiving a teacher's certificate. She married Louis Alexander of Shullsburg on November 14, 1931, and they made their home in Lancaster their entire married life. Louis passed away in 1970. Gyrlie and her sister Winnie lived in Pasadena, California, until returning to Dodgeville in 1986.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Jessie) Rodham of Madison, and Mrs. James (Ida) Smart of Dodgeville; a niece; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman and Donald; a sister, Winnie Paquette; and a nephew, Larry Paquette.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 11 am from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Dodgeville, the Reverend Henry Kalscheuer officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, April 13. Graveside committal service will be held at 1 pm at St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery, in Shullsburg.
