Possibly the daughter of Neil & Mary McFadden
Sister Ann McFadden O'Toole Fag#104091687

Mrs. Katherine Hirrell, widow of the late Dennis Hirrell, died at her home in Red Rock Monday evening, Jan. 29, 1912. Katherine McFadden was born in the County Donagal, Ireland, Dec. 16, 1820. When twelve years of age she came with her parents, brothers and sister to Philadelphia, Pa, in 1832. In June 1844 she was united in marriage to Dennis Hirrell. To this union eight children were born. They are Margaret and Michael, who preceded her to the grave many years ago; Mrs. E. Leddy, Armour, S.D., Mrs. John Connors, Delmont, S.D., Barney, Daniel and James, at home, and who so tenderly cared for her during all her declining years. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. John O'Toole of White Oak Springs. Also ten grandchildren, all of whom reside in South Dakota, except James Leddy of Sioux City, Iowa, and Earl Hirrell, whom she raised. During her last few days she was always anxious to know that her children were all near her, never forgetting her grandson, whom, it is hoped, will always remember her good advice and kindness, shown to him since childhood.
In the year 1848 she, with her husband, who preceded her to the grave some ten years ago, came to White Oak Springs. In 1855 moved to the farm in Red Rock, where she has since made her home up to the time of her death.
Mrs. Hirrell was a faithful wife, an affectionate mother, a kind and obliging neighbor, ever ready to lend a helping hand; always cheerful and ready to do all in her power to make others happy. She was a devout member of the Catholic church, and ever tried to live up to its teachings.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Jan. 31 from the Catholic church in Darlington. Burial bein made in the Catholic cemetery.
