She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Quincy, whom she was married to for 64 years; 3 brothers: Marvin, Charlie, and Joe Gideon; 3 sisters, Gladys Mckown, Thelma Holmes, and Jackie Barnes; son-in-law, Louis Ely; granddaughter, Robyn Peterson.
She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1935 and married Quincy on December 18, 1935. She was an excellient seamstress and cook. Her love for making quilts is displayed by the quilts she made for her grandkids and others. She loved making and painting ceramics. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years, loved gardening, loved to fish and play 42 and canasta. Her legacy has graced us with a life of amazing moments.
Cleo is survived by her daughter, Pat Ely, of Montgomery, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Iris Dean, of Bastrop, Texas;brother-in-law and wife, James and Linda Dean of Schertz, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Cindy Fore and husband, Kyle, of Conroe; David Ely of Montgomery; Pam McKee of Montgomery; Bob Barnett, and wife, Diana, of Ashlyn, Ohio; Becky McGary of Bastrop, Texas; Diana Wilkerson and husband, Matt of Kyle, Texas; numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January, 15th at Metcalf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 16th, at Metcalf Funeral Home. Interment service will follow at Copeland Chapel Cemetery in Montgo9mery. Family and friends are encouraged and welcome to attend a celebration of her life.
