GEORGIA'S OBITUARY

Georgia Ann Butler, 81, of Chireno, Texas passed away on Monday, November 1, 2016 in Chireno, Texas. She was born on May 20, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the daughter of Mr. Floyd J. Gartman and Mrs. Ruth Crisp Gartman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Moss officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home.

Ann grew up in Chireno; it was in her early childhood that her family decided to settle in East Texas. She attended and graduated from Chireno High School. After high school, she attended Stephen F. Austin where she participated in volleyball and graduated with her teaching degree. Ann met Mr. Durward Oswald Butler as he was driving the school bus, they fell in love and were married on June 5, 1953, they had a wonderful marriage that lasted a total of 63 years.

Ann was especially good with children, she truly enjoyed teaching them; she taught Sunday school for as long as she was able to. One of her favorite hobbies was fishing, she enjoyed reading and bowling among other things. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren they were her joy.

Ann was a member of the Eastern Star for many years.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Ann will be Wallace Gartman, Rob Allen, Tommy Mooney, Brandon Hagle, David Holland, and Harold Hagle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Smith, Dr. B.W. Henderson, Dr. Philip Labarbera, Robert Elliot, Ray Shadden, Randy Gartman and Chris Gartman.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Durward Oswald Butler; her son, Mike Butler and wife, Karen of Nacogdoches; her granddaughter Allyson Butler Delafield and husband, Evan of Nacogdoches; great grandchildren: Michael Taylor Delafield and Lauren Blair Delafield; sisters in law: Karon Gartman of Chireno, Joy Keeling and Janice McMullen; brothers in law: Hillard Butler and wife Carol, and Harold Hagle. Very special friend and caretaker, Jeanine Allen husband, Rob, and their daughter Robin; and special friends of the family Tommy and wife, Clarice Mooney, along with other family and friends who love and will truly miss Ann.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Chireno Baptist Church, 141 New Camp Rd. Chireno, Texas 75937.
