She was the daughter of Joseph Gilmer b. Greensboro NC abt 1780 and Martha Adeline Forbis b. abt 1790 both of whom are buried in Southport, Maury County Tennessee perhaps in the Gilmer Cemetery - graves unmarked. Some have placed Joseph in Reese Chapel Cemetery, but I do not know the source of that.
The last wife of Nathan Coffey (1780-1858) of Maury County Tennesse, a prominent businessman. Married 11 Feb 1848. Nathan was married to Elizabeth Gilbreath first and had children by him. Not likely there were natural children from Euphence and Nathan due to Euphence's age. [C.W. Austin, 12 Jan 2013, Revised 25 Feb 2013]
Per the 1870 census she lived with her daughter Martha James Stockard Abernathy (by first marriage to James R. Stockard) and son-in-law Dr, Charles Clayton in her later years. Her obit indicates she died in the home of her son-in-law, Dr. Abernathy. [per Linda Munroe.]
Burial: Old white section of Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, Tennessee.
Burial record was 1st found in the book "Giles County Tennessee Cemeteries". Mention is made of other family members but was not picked up by the book, nor yet by the Findagrave photo folks. The listing was found in the Old white Cemetery of Maplewood Cemetery, page 323 and now thanks to Debbie we have a photo of the tombstone with an updated reading except for he weak inscription at the bottom.
Inscription says: She Sleeps beside her only daughter (Martha James Stockard Abernathy) to whom she devoted her life.
