Lee George Ashby

Lee George Ashby, 84, passed away in Kingman, AZ on January 8, 2013. He was born to Clinton L. and Annie Draper Ashby in Sparks, NV on July 4, 1928. He was raised in Sparks and attended Sparks schools graduating from Sparks High School in 1948. After high school he served a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the North Central States Mission. He worked at the Sparks Theatre, First National Bank and Ross Photo.

Lee was drafted in the Army in 1951. After returning from the service, he attended Brigham Young University where he met and married Julia Ann Farnsworth. He soon decided to make the Army a career and enlisted. He served in Korea, Vietnam, Japan and Germany retiring after 20 years. He married his 2nd wife JoAnn Dee Hood and lived in Huntington Beach, CA for many years.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Verla, brother, Clinton, his first wife, Julia and second wife, JoAnn. He is survived by his sister, Alice Corbridge of Sparks, NV, two sons, Nathan Ashby of Sacramento, CA and Paul Ashby of Bullhead City, AZ, a stepdaughter, Kymberle West of Lemoore, CA, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lee was living with his nephew, Kelly and wife, Colleen Corbridge in Kingman, AZ at the time of his death.

We wish to thank the doctors and nurses that cared for him during his illness this past month at both Kingman Regional Medical Center and the Joan and Diana Hospice Home and the Veterans Administration in Kingman. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends from church and the Kingman Senior Center where he enjoyed Thursday 'Jam Sessions' dancing with the lovely ladies.

A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at the Rutherford Chapel in Kingman on Saturday, January 12th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. burial will be in Clearfield, UT at a later date.
