Barbara A. Chappuis, 82, of New Milford, CT, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alan Roy Chappuis. Mrs. Chappuis was born in New Milford, CT, January 22, 1930, daughter of the late Edward Raymond and Mary Worden Beckwith Adams.She was a graduate of New Milford High School and a member of the First Congregational Church for many years, as well as a volunteer secretary at the Church. Mrs. Chappuis was one of the founding "mothers" of the Northville Volunteer Fire Department, and a 50 year member of the Northwestern CT Girl Scout Council where she served as a leader and member of the Board of Directors. She was also a member and secretary of the Hartcourt Foundation of New Milford. She was an avid racoon hunter , but only hunted out her bathroom window. Mrs. Chappuis is survived by a daughter, Sharon A. Chappuis and her partner, Linda A. Miano of New Milford; two grandsons, Alan Anthony Chappuis and Andre Anthony Chappuis, both of New Milford; a brother, Duey Adams and his wife Sally of New Milford; two sisters-in-law, Linda Stickles and her husband Alan of Freeville, New York, and Arlene Chappuis of Daytona Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Raymond Lee Chappuis; and a brother, Ted Adams. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11 AM at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. A private burial will take place at the Northville Cemetery, New Milford. Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home on Sunday, January 13, from 4 to 7 PM.
