AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho – Velma Irene Taylor Torman, 87, formerly of Ogden, died Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Power County Nursing Home in American Falls, Idaho.

She was born May 22, 1921 in Ogden, a daughter of Joseph Elmer and Ethel Elizabeth Treseder Taylor.

On September 21, 1940, Velma married Ralph Henry Torman in Ogden. Ralph preceded her in death January 4, 1992.

She was raised and educated in the Ogden City Schools. She lived in Ogden most of her life and in American Falls, Idaho since 2004.

Velma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was a member of the O.P.D. Women's Auxiliary.

Surviving are three sons and four daughters, Tommy (Lorraine) Torman and Leonard (Bonnie) Torman, both of Ogden; Patricia (Allen, deceased) Nelson, American Falls, ID; Janet (Hal) Elks, Emery, SD; Cheryl (Lyle) Craig, Beaverton, OR; Jolene (Steve) Jeppson, Ogden; Eric (Penny) Torman, West Valley City, UT; 31 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Shane Henry, three brothers, Jack Taylor, Joe Taylor, Leon Taylor, one sister, Marguerite Johnson and son-in-law, Allen Nelson.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Greg Lewis of the Marriott-Slaterville 1st Ward, officiating.
