A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, in Moreland Presbyterian Church in Portland for Alton Emanuel Alspaugh and Dorothy May Alspaugh. Mr. Alspaugh died Sept. 14 of Parkinson's disease at age 91. Mrs. Alspaugh died Sept. 15 of a heart attack at age 88.

Mr. Alspaugh was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Estacada, and raised in Myrtle Creek. He graduated from Myrtle Creek High School and Oregon State College. He was a civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers and then for Pacific Power & Light for 26 years.

Dorothy May McCreery was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Portland, where she lived all her life. She graduated from Grant High School and was a secretary and then a homemaker.

Mr. and Mrs. Alspaugh were married in 1944. They were members for more than 50 years of the church, where he was an elder and she taught in the Sunday school.

Survivors include their daughter, Janet A. Bristol; son, Roy W.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Alspaugh is also survived by his sister, Treva A. Ernest.
