Darius was named for Darius Mains, the first husband of his mother, Harriet Glidden. Harriet remarried to (Peter) John Fogg at Passadumkeag in the 1830s. The Foggs then settled near Springfield, before a final move to Winn, Maine. Darius spent time in Forest City, on the border with New Brunswick and worked in the Shaw Tannery there, with his brother, Frederick E. Fogg (14912717), who is buried at Crystal, Maine. Darius later lived in Vanceboro and Island Falls. Darius is also the brother of Ira W. Fogg (85196651).
