Dr. Edward Tinsley Yager was a son of Elijah Yager and Elizabeth Lewis Redd. He married Mary McDonald, daughter of Stephen McDonald and Susannah Black, 29 December 1859, probably in Livingston County, Missouri. He had two children Edward Lewis Yager born 1861 and Marietta born 1863. In 1865 he moved his family to Virginia City, Montana, where he had a medical practice. He served in the Montana Territorial legislature and was the first president of the Montana Medical Association. His wife died in 1884 and is buried with her McDonald relatives in Elmwood Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. E.T. Yager then moved to Benson County, North Dakota and lived with his son.
