Robert Weston Anderson, 65, passed away in his Sandy home Thursday afternoon, December 27, 2012 after a long 6 year battle with cancer. He was born to Anna Lee Manwill and Weston Wyatt on August 9, 1947 in Healdsburg, CA. He married his sweetheart Sandra Jean Morton on September 5, 1969 in Concord, CA, marriage solemnized the very next day September 6, 1969 in the Oakland, CA Temple.
He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was assigned to the MACV's 109th Air Delivery Company in Cam Ranh Bay. Later he re-enlisted in the 19th Special Forces. One day he was sworn in and the next day he was jumping out of a C141 jet for the first time. He had many adventurous experiences during his service and made many lifelong friends.
He received his bachelors degree in January 1971 from BYU and later received his MBA from Chaminade University of Honolulu.
Most of his professional career was spent working at Zions Bank. He started out as the manager of the Head Office Branch in Salt Lake City and ended up as the Senior Vice President over the Real Estate Department. Zions Bank always felt like family to him. He valued the relationships he developed over his long career at the bank with both fellow employees as well as his clients. He was very passionate and competitive at whatever he decided to do. This was the case in all of his interests including running, racquetball, golf and tennis. He enjoyed his time spent camping, hiking and fishing in the mountains, as well as playing golf with his friends at the Hidden Valley Country Club and the countless hours he spent at the gym. He lived his life with integrity and had a strong work ethic. He found his greatest joy in serving others and spending time with his kids and grandkids. The anchor in his life was his strong faith in our Savior Jesus Christ and in the restored gospel.
He is survived by his wife Sandy; two children, Angela (Clark) Jensen, Mike (Brittany) Anderson; mother Anna Manwill; eight grandchildren, Krystle, Ryan, Amber, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Adam, Jacob and Matthew; three sisters, JoAnn (Don) Silva, Barbara Colene Wyatt and Audrey May (Al) Woods. He was preceded in death by his father Weston Wyatt, father-in-law Gift Earl Morton and mother-in-law Bertha Munz Morton.
