Frances was a 1944 graduate of Peru High School and an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. She worked several years as a bookkeeper at Messmore Bakery in Peru and after marriage to Russell and several children, she became a full time stay at home mom. She was active in St. John's Lutheran School and became the "hot lunch lady", a position she held for many years until declining health forced her retirement.
She is survived by daughters Sandra S. Hughes and her husband J.R. of Peru, Nancy J. Pierce and her husband Millard of Texas, Jo Ellen Hurst and her husband Mike of Indianapolis, Cindy A. Murphy and her husband John of Indianapolis and Vicki L. Rottmiller and her husband Bill of Brownsburg, IN; a son James R. Baker and his wife Katrina of Peru; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law Margaret Bradshaw of Peru and Mary Kennedy of Kokomo.
A service celebrating the life of Frances M. Baker will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 181 West Main Street, Peru with Pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Family and friends will gather from 2:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
