Fred Grohman, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Fred retired in 1982, after 32yrs from his career with the Air Force Logistics Command at Kelly AFB, TX. He began working in various Maintenance Division jobs in 1950 including driving the tow vehicles to move planes around, working inside small spaces on C130's, C-5, etc. He was accepted into the 2 year Apprentice Training Aircraft Mechanic program, graduating in 1954 and awarded the Outstanding Apprentice award. His first day after this honor, he was contacted to work various Special Projects that earned him very high esteem from all his supervisors. He worked with the High Dollar items and then saved the Air Force several hundreds of thousands of dollars before moving into various management positions. Fred was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, by General Jack Catton. This was for his excellence in managing the F5 Project Peace Hawk program through 1973. He continued to manage this billion dollar program until 1978, with over 20 round trips overseas, and to Washington, D C where he made countless presentations to all levels of officers there. He also worked with Northrup Aviation Corporation in California with high level decision concerning all aspects of that plane's production.

In 1980, Fred became an Elder at Cornerstone Church. After retiring, Dr. John Hagee of Cornerstone Church asked him to work with his church. Fred helped him initiate the Night to Honor Israel program. The church has continued this program locally & nationally very successfully for 30 years. He also managed the pastor's new TV ministry then, which has also been produced for over 30 years.

Meanwhile, he began 95% of the construction of a new home in Spring Branch where they lived for about 14 years. Part of that included the laying of over 7000 bricks as walkways. In 2007, they moved to Independence Village due to Fred's health issues. On December 23, 2011, they moved w/in a few blocks of the home they'd lived in over 30 years, raising their 7 daughters.
