MILTON - Ruth Kathleen Brouse, 90, of Boiardi Lane, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Buffalo Township, Union County, a daughter of the late Wesley Clyde and Barbara Rebecca (Stahl) Smith. On June 29, 1944, in Mifflinburg Lutheran Church, she married Norman O. Brouse Sr., who preceded her in death.
Ruth attended Vicksburg Elementary School, where she skipped the second grade, and she graduated from Lewisburg High School.
She was employed as a secretary by the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served on the church council and taught Sunday school. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes, going to square dances and wintering in Florida.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Norman O. Jr. and Mary Brouse, of Lewisburg, James D. Sr. and Cynthia Brouse, of Milton, Ray W. and Lisa Brouse, of Milton, Jeffrey S. and Tammy Brouse, of Milton, and Timothy M. and Nancy Brouse, of Shamokin Dam; two sisters, Mary L. Catherman, of Mifflinburg, and Marge Deitrick, of Lewisburg; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde W. Smith; three sisters, Betty L. Zartman, Ada M. Smith and Mildred E. Brouse; and two grandchildren.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Gregory A. Kramer and the Rev. Rubens Ruba officiating.
Burial will be in Dreisbach Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will provide flowers and asks that memorial contributions be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
