OBITUARY:
The Otsego Farmer
January 12, 1894 newspaper date

Mrs. Orlando Shutes, who died at her
home at Toddsville on the' 8th inst., had
been for some time a great sufferer. It
is nearly a year since she went to Albany
and had several cancers removed from her
side. For a time her improvement was
quite rapid and her recovery seemed assured,
but finally a reaction set in and it
was soon evident that medical skill could
not avail. She was a lady of extremely
good nature and even temperament and
was highly esteemed among her acquaintances.
By her husband and son, she will
be greatly missed, and several brothers
and sisters and other relatives will deeply
mourn her loss. Mrs. Shutes died in the
faith of Him who came to save, and was thus ready
to enter the life eternal. Funeral services were rendered
at her last residence on Wednesday, the Rev. Adelbert Finch
officiating. Her age was 58 years.
