Bill was a graduate of Muskegon High School. He worked for the Muskegon Public School system as a custodian for 30 years and was affectionately known by all the children as "Mr. Bill". Bill was a strong man of faith, and a member of Mona Shores Baptist Church, where he was active.
He was an avid Muskegon Big Reds fan, Red Wings fan, and a Lions fan when they were winning. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and eating perch dinners. Bill also loved his dogs, Sugar and Ella.
On September 16, 1995, he married Lori Lynn McMahon in Muskegon and she survives him along with three children, Kara (Brandon) Young, Megan and Hannah Bostrom; step-daughter, Cecelia Bosma; sisters, Barb (Mike) Woudwyk, Rondi (Kyle) Buris; grandmother, Dorothea Ruiter; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Sharon McMahon; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Kathy) McMahon, Tom (Kim) McMahon; many nieces and nephews; and many, many, friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
