Catesby Todd Field Jr., 78, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2002. He was born at Toddsbury in Gloucester County. Todd was a graduate of Botetourt High School and Christchurch Episcopal School. He was a confirmed member of Ware Episcopal Church. Todd was an avid amateur historian. Todd was an enthusiastic scholar of local history, culture and genealogy. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country during World War II in the European Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary H. Field; three sons, Thomas T. Field , William H. Field and George R. Field, all of Gloucester; his brother, William M. Field Sr. of Gloucester; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue or to the Gloucester Chapter of the American Heart Association.
